Going back to times at Padgett Lavender Associates in
Bishop Auckland, Chris Padgett worked closely with the
client for the redevelopment of this former convent
school in Richmond, North Yorkshire. From spotting the
site, liaising with the local planning authority,
assisting with negotiations with the owners, and
ultimately working with the client's construction staff,
we were involved at every stage in providing a
development of 27 apartments, both conversion and new
build, and twelve new build houses on a very steeply
sloping site which has been warmly received by local
people, English Heritage and the Countryside Agency.
The site abuts the
Temple Grounds a grade II listed landscape and therefore
enormous sensitivity was required to relate the
buildings to the topography of the site and to relate
the architecture of the buildings to the victorian
gothic character of the convent. |
